For this project I had the pleasure of working with Vinyl Moon.
Vinyl Moon is a subscription service that releases a monthly mixtape pressed on limited edition vinyl and housed in custom packaging created by a different illustrator / designer each month.

This album, titled "Sunray Surfaces" is the 54th volume and features ten artists.
Side A - Ackerman, Margot Polo, Shangri-La Kids, Laveda, HOONCH.
Side B - HOAX, All The Rest, MONOGEM, BVRGER, SACRE.
Upon hearing this album, feelings such as warmth, happiness and freedom were always present. I decided to make an illustration that, in my opinion, represented them. With no one in mind I designed a face and an atmosphere for the cover that conveyed those same feelings.
The front and back cover consists of an illustration with clear UV spot varnish finish on the leaves and golden foil on the earrings and eyeliner. The spread has the same clear UV spot varnish on the chameleon, leaves and structures. The disc itself is a translucent violet/red blob in milky white with die-cut center labels. The package also came with a small leaf window cling inserts.
My eyes are still closed but I sense that I'm getting closer. The leaves are both fewer and warmer. I'm nearing the edge.
I can feel it. Right now the sensation is just behind my eyelids but soon it will spread.
The heat begins to take hold of my cheeks. something brushes moisture onto my fingers.
A flash of light passes through my eyelids.
My senses finally seem awake but I'm still. not ready to open my eyes. This world right here feels perfect and
I'm in no rush to alter it. Like a needle in the groove, I'm content to just ride this for a bit.
The warmth is really spreading now. My limbs itch to move. To shake off the sweat that has taken hold of me
like dew on morning foliage.
Hot and cold. Dry and wet. Asleep and awake. The shifting states that mark the passage of time continue.
And so do I. Eyes closed. Body moving. Heart racing. Fingers occasionally fumbling to flip the record.
