Aithrio Pergola

A project for Aluminco Design Competition, Greece . Aithrio was among the three finalists and won the thrird prize .
The BRIEF : Design a Pergola system for a modern residence. The purpose of the product is the smooth transition between the residence and the exterior space .
Our Inspiration Guidelines .
Aithrio Pergola is made of aluminum with a glass layer on top of the patterned surface to privent rain coming through in the early Autumn days . Also , it is painted with electrostatic paint so that it resembles the texture of wood.
The patterned surface is inspired by the Greek hand made knitted cloth "Σεμέν"  [ shuh-m-e-n] which brings a Greek character to the product.
Also a "Green" element of Aithrio is it's O-LED lights on the sides . O-LED is a new LED technology for more economic and smooth lighting light sources. Also the solar panels help Aithrio to be energy autonomus.
The top surface helps  the sunlight to come through and simultaneously creates a smooth shadow effect.
