UNIT CITY OFFICE BLOCK #06 — BLOCK BIT

The construction site is located in a former industrial area, called “Motozavod” (Kyiv’s Motobike Factory) in the past. At present it is an innovation park - Unit City, an intersection of office-, residential-, public flows.

The project has to react by functional components from the neighborhood zones: offices, public areas and housing. The main task is to create a complex that will adapt to its surroundings and contributes by adding new distinctive, robust architecture. The concept has to provide all workers with a contemporary office, loaded with light through floor-to-ceiling windows and access to attractive amenity spaces, encourages public life and a sense of community among the residents and the local working community.

We asked ourselves "how to deal with it" and our proposal is the BLOCK BIT!

Practically, it contains underground parking, lobby, shops, restaurants, services in the first two levels, six office levels, and public rooftop.

Conceptually, here the office core is promoting general interest in a comfortable human-centric R&D process in a clear and functional way. Sustainability and climate-friendly solutions have been integral decision searching throughout the process both in spatial design and in the material choice.

Our general vision is to create a building that signals openness, robustness and lightness, clearness and calmness, aims to create an entirely new working, meeting and leisure place for all residents of Unit City. This building has to become an extension of the whole existing Unit City’s Office area.

Therefore, BLOCK BIT will be constructed in concrete with glass filling and aluminum semi-transparent lightweight covering structure. Its roof-top will be combining wooden floor, gravel covering and perimetrical low-high bushes border. Finish facade skin developed as an adaptive-opened and transparent facade facing the Event plaza, offices and future homes. So, the building shows by itself many activities to its surroundings. It has a strong sense of coherence trough white color.

It is going to be a highly climate-friendly building and a potential icon of sustainability, durability, functionality. A destination where life can unfold throughout the year in strong correlation with the residents and the working environment to be established.

We believe that in this way the project generously underlines the client’s basic desire that the house must appear friendly, transparent, and responsive, while creating an attraction office block in Unit’s Event plaza environment. It is important that the project’s great qualities on the active floors and public terrace are accessible to all and become an attraction for the Unit City.
