"Nightmarish" Display Typeface

The idea for this display typeface came out of some old work from my sketchbook.  I recently purchased a Wacom Intuos4 (FINALLY) so it prompted me to finally make something of this idea.  Below is a basic rundown of the process I went through getting this thing ready.
I started by sketching out the characters based off the original drawings.  Originally I had only drawn the capital letters of the alphabet so I went through and drew out the rest of the characters to make this a usable typeface.
Once the initial sketches were all laid out I went through and cleaned up each figure, also adding details to keep the look consistent among the characters.
A close up of one of the initial sketches.
The cleaned up version was drawn right over, and some extra 'umf' was added to give each character a little more pop and personality.
If you look closely you can notice some of the uneven weight in the strokes and some unconnected points.  The image below shows how it was cleaned up.
Here you can see I made the strokes more uniform to give the figure an clean and more appealing appearance.  This was done with each character after the initial drawings were finished.  I paid careful attention to make sure the stroke weight was consistent throughout the whole series of characters.
The completed drawings for the entire character set that will be in the typeface.  At this point I am going to take these into Illustrator to create vectors to use in FontLab.  From there I will adjust the character specs, kerning, and all of that fun stuff so that this can be used.  Once that's all said and done I am going to turn this in a working typeface (OTF) that will be available for free download under a creative commons license.  I've been working on this diligently for the last couple of weeks so soon enough these bad boys will be available for everyone to download.  The only catch to downloading them is you will have to follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook in order to get the file.  Sounds reasonable, right?  I'll be notifying anyone that's interested via these social media outlets once this thing is ready to go, and about all future projects, so keep an eye out and hit those like/follow buttons!
