Moving type meets print
Are computer programs replacing designers? Well, not yet at least. But designers can write their own programs and, using these self-made tools, open up new possibilities in design. The cover of our April issue is the result of a fascinating cooperation – it combines moving  type with sophisticated printing technology. The design, from Studio Mut, draws on hardware and software, providing one example of what the future might hold.

The cover
For the cover we chose the paper Pop’Set in Urban Grey. The warm grey tone and the slightly rough surface present a charming contrast to the shimmering hot foil. Light Line Laser Seamless enables a holographic effect in all the colours of the rainbow, bringing movement into a motif that, thanks to moving type software, was itself generated from movement. The finish thus reflects the story behind the creation of the motif.

All this and more awaits in this issue of novum!
