My Portrait Work
As I have progressed from my level three photography course through to my first year of my degree I have found that I really enjoy taking portraits. These portraits were taken in a variety of different settings ranging from using studio lighting in a more professional setting to shooting on location. My most preferred location for shooting is the studio as I feel I have more control over the light and the effect it has on my subject, whereas on location I find the light can be difficult to manage especially in winter months.
In the past I have used:
> High Key lighting
> Low Key lighting / Chiaroscuro
> Natural light when shooting outdoors
> Paramount lighting
> Soft box lighting
The best lighting I have found to suit my subjects well has been Paramount lighting and high key lighting. Personally, with each subject I have photographed I have found that there are different types of lighting that suits them more than others. For my course I have experimented with different types of lighting to see which suits my subjects the most.
