La Fabbrica dello Zucchero is a new cultural centre located inside the city’s former sugar factory. The factory was built at the beginning of the twentieth century and has an industrial style. It was intended for the processing of sugar beet but then was abandoned during the 1980s and subsequently went through a restoration and conversion around the mid 90s, becoming an exhibition area and office building.

The project "La Fabbrica dello Zucchero" now has a different and new use for the facility, transforming the building into a space for performing arts and culture - the pavilions of the old factory can now host dance performances, concerts, exhibitions, and projections - in an interesting dialogue between the interior and exterior of the area.

Our response to the client's request was to design the visual identity for La Fabbrica dello Zucchero using the architectural boundaries of the space, i.e. the large windows of the entire complex, taking advantage of its rhythmic structure to create a grid with which we composed original lettering.

The windows form a natural "sundial" in the way they allow sunlight to filter in and illuminate the interior of the pavilions, following the changes in the position of the sun during the day and suggesting the passage of time. The brand’s graphics have been created both as an animated projection and with a transformation installation inside La Fabbrica dello Zucchero.
