Nikolett Jánosi's profile

Light illustrations

My work is a three-piece illustration-serial, which is about the native stories of creation.
Manhood, due to his curiosity, has always been searching for answers for the world’s phenomena. Before revealing of scientific theories the people’s imagination was creating legends that show their believes. The most interesting epic poems are the explanatory ones.

The compositions are built up from motives and symmetric picturesque elements. Simplified shapes and geometric parts make associative illustrations. The three stories I have chosen are from distinctive folks: the myth of Abenaki native Americans, the story of creation of Laos, and the Finnish Kalevala, but in all of the  stories common that animals help the gods to create our world.
The work takes three pieces of 50x70 cm size, the shapes are shown in negative forms cut by laser, and if they are lighted backwards, they figure out the picture.
