ROLE Visual identity / Web design + development
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Public Humanities Initiative (SNFPHI) is a platform initiated by the department of Greek Studies at Columbia University in New York that supports individuals and teams that want to develop a project in the fields of history, creative arts and education relevant to a wider greek audience. Our call was to create an identity, promo material and the digital platform to make this initiative happen.
Our logo proposal consists of three “building blocks” stacked in different directions. The SNF (Stavros Niarchos Foundation) at the bottom expresses the stable and solid foundation of the project, the rotated PH (Public Humanities) stands for the works under development, and the I (Initiative) represents the coverage that Columbia —the initiator— offers to the activities. This typographic composition attempts to meaningfully accommodate the long acronym and improve its readability.
For the website, we took the “building blocks” logic further by introducing an animated Tetris-like behaviour for various elements in an attempt to illustrate the fluidity of the ideas and the complementarity of the artists and the managing team’s efforts.
