“Bottom of An AncientSea,” is a mixed media series evoking  sea life as it mighthave existed in a mythic, primordial state, when New Mexico wasunderwater perhaps. I've imagined a place of glittering light andmotion where life forms are inchoate and elusive. I know that myimagery was deeply influenced by a swim last summer over coralencrusted rocks in Hawaii, where a sea turtle led the way. I'velayered translucent handmade paper from Thailand, Nepal and Japanfeaturing banana, mango and unryu (mulberry) fibers with casein,acrylic paint and acrylic mediums, to form diaphanous layers andpassages where forms float and seem to sway or communicateatmospheric effects.
