JunctionX Exeter was a hackathon which took place over the weekend of the 21st-23rd February 2020. There were ~100 attendees, who competed to build the best product under one of three tracks: Sustainability, Mental Health or Transport.
Junction is a global hackathon and tech community, spreading the word of empowering people to create with technology. The JunctionX program was created for local tech communities around the world to have a way to create their own hackathon, and bring developers, designers and all other techies together. All JunctionX events are individual events created by the local community, supported by Junction.
The event was a big success, with Clean Carbon winning the grand prize under the Sustainability track. Their idea was a Chrome extension which allowed the user to view in real-time the carbon footprint of their online shopping order.
Other track winners included:
Evaq from the Transport track, a system which directed populations within large cities in the event of a mass evacuation (ie. natural disasters).
JoyBit from the Mental Health track, a smart watch app which tracks the user's health data to provide information for them to improve their mental wellbeing.
Here's to JunctionX Exeter 2021! 🎉
