Singapore Biennale 2019 X Converse Chucks Design Competition
You're A Star (Category C – Consolation Prize)
My design is fun and playful with many colourful ‘blobs’ that are of different colours and shapes to represent the different types of artworks that the Singapore Biennale showcases and how whilst they are different, they still look like a cohesive collection altogether. The design also invokes a childlike personality to it to symbolises the broad imagination that children have when growing up. This childlike personality is also expressed by using the eyelet of the shoes as the eyes for the creatures on the shoes showing how with imagination, you can turn something mundane and ordinary into something interesting and playful. I also decided to highlight “over all star” on the ‘Converse All Star’ patch to bear the meaning that ‘overall, you are a star’ which can mean you’re doing great and is going towards the right direction.
