Collage Portrait

This is my collage portrait. I wanted it to portray bravery, masculinity, and an Alberta Seveso sports theme.
I started with this picture of my subject. Then I retouched some areas. I adjusted the levels and curves in the entire photo and the areas on his hair.
I used this lion because I really loved the color, tone, contrast! I absolutely loved the lion's battle scars too because it shows that he has been through a lot, but he's still here. Similar story for many people, including my subject. This lion had a lot in common with my subject.
I used this image of this lion because I needed to match its mane to add to the main photo, due to lack of space. Also, it matched very well with my original lion.
I ended up transforming, warping, and masking the mane fur to match the original image.
I started with a black background so that I matches the color scheme I was going for to complete this image.
To begin, I started masking my subject half way.
Next, I masked the lion on the other side of him to describe it's a part of him.
Then, I began to start taking pieces from both the lion and my subject with the lasso tool, warped them, and created multiple layers. Lastly, I added motion blur to each piece to demonstrate the pieces flying off of the subject to show how powerful he is.
Also, this is part of my "Albert Seveso" theme.
For background,  I added the fog and rays last after I masked my subjects. I downloaded brushes from brusheezy.
I choose colors from the lion to stay with my theme of warm tones.
