Alphacast- an absurdist speculative project on technology in India 2035
We predicted that in India 2035, content will be generated by AI that will be personalized for every individual. This content will include entertainment like movies, songs, art as well as political and social propaganda.
Our prototype was for a political speech generator. The AI would gather information about the subject like their likes, dislikes and political preferences, etc. and generate a speech that caters especially to them and also puts forth the political agenda meant to be conveyed.
The following is a prototype that generated a speech based on Mahatma Gandhi, using Rita.js, a generative literature software, and Processing. This is a very primitive stage for the text generator, which takes inputs from various propaganda speeches and political ideas. Although it may not create coherent sentences every singe time, its brokenness makes it more eerie and dystopian.
Along with the speech generator, we also worked on a quote generator, that took pre-existing quotes by famous people and generated absurd quotes using these. This was an experiment to question the profoundness and credibility of quotes and to see if people would accept these absurd quotes. This prototype, built using Processing, generates not just quotes, but also selects the background image and typeface.
