Fish, Birds and Food

Project 008:
Illustration for Product Design: Fish, Birds and Food

The outcome for this brief was very open, the project itself simply asked us to explore image making around the topics of “Fish, Birds and Food’ and to produce some kind of final piece  I really enjoyed the freedom of this project and found myself loving the use of black ink and brush to illustrate ostriches.  I’ve never been a fan of ostriches or thought much about them but after illustrating all sorts of birds I found myself going back to the ostriches.  Lots of fun illustrations eventually led to me producing an ink drawing of a baby ostrich, the sweet look the illustration had in it’s eye immediately made me think of babies’ and children’s ranges of products.  I decided to produce a children’s line based on the illustration.  This included children’s cutlery, baby grows and bibs.  I really like the outcome of this product and designed the final outcomes with the theory they’d be sold in department stores like John Lewis or Marks and Spencer’s, so kept them quite classy and country modern style.
