Laser cut projects (Spring 2020) Experimental textile

Laser cut project of Experimental Textile design class (spring 2020)

For this project my students had to abstract the comic Saga, published by Image Comics; written by Brian K. Vaughan and Illustrated by Fiona Staples. This science fiction comic had a lot of concepts and characters that could be abstracted into a wearable. The only condition was that they had to use one of the techniques of laser cut for textiles that we saw on class.
The three pictures below depict the work of Jaime Gutiérrez, he used a modular technique, everything was assembled perfectly.
The 4 pictures below depict the work of Alejandro Iracheta, he used the laser cutter to allow the fabric to expand and deform as wings but also looking like a geometrical armor.
The 2 pictures below shows the work of Paulina Demuner, creating a collar from the character Lying Cat.
The 2 pictures below depict the work of Brenda Acevedo, she also chose the modular approach but she also fabricated a special fabric with a metallic rainbow finish to give the appearance of metal weave.
The two pictures below depicts the work of Andrea Mastache, she chose to use laser cut to create a leveled sleeve and also add details to the blouse. She abstracted the horn structures and the style of the character Gwendolyn.
