Brooklyn Architecture (Take 2)

A commission for a Brooklyn lover.  All made from paper, all hand cut.

This piece was so small (only 10x8") but I still wanted to get every little detail just right because after all, years before I'd made one for my sister.  So it became a bit of a competition...

The new technique here is the folding of the paper to create depth.  Although my illustrations always have a strong 3D effect, I didn't normally actually fold pieces in and out to create that depth until this image.

It was also so much fun to sneak in some details inside the windows - for example my "carpentry" work with the bookcases and the little cat inside the window.
