When I was looking for layouts for the world fact book, I was looking mostly at illustration or photo dominant spread designs, since I figure most of the pages wont need large blocks of type. 

When researching Czech design this is something that came up:

"The postwar period – Even the post-war period had its bright moments. Bruselský styl, “the Brussels Style“, was one; its name is derived from the phenomenal success of the Czechoslovak pavilion at the 1958 World Expo in Brussels, where it won the gold medal. The style was characterized by rounded curves, a bright, cheery palette, and the use of new materials such as laminate, aluminium, formica and plywood. Its influence lasted well into the 1970s."

Here are some of my initial sketches, where I was focusing on how I would layout information.

This was my next step in sketches, thinking about specific pages and how I would show information. 

I got the type from the CIA World Factbook cite on Czechia and cleaned up the type to put into my final document.

Placed the type into the book and did some lose formating and placed some placeholder blocks for images. I then inserted pie charts I made in Illustrator using my branding colors. 

I then added tables and finalized the layout of my type using column breaks.

I added images to the placeholder and some decorative assets I created in Illustrator to all the pages. This finished the interior of the book. 

Using the Blurb book Creator I generated a template for the cover and spine. I inserted the pattern, an asset I created in Illustrator for the inside covers.

For the outside covers I started with my logo and added additional information required
