UX/UI - CitiNews App - Work In Progress

"The days of journalists finding all the best stories are over. Right now, the best way to create a newspaper is to have citizens crowdsourcing the news."

Goal
Create a system that will allow ordinary people to film events, take photographs, write a story and submit that story for publication in a new, crowdsourced, online newspaper. Ordinary citizens will submit news stories from the front line, capture sporting events and even send in reviews of plays and art exhibitions.
Challenges
Telling on-the-ground and under-told stories— it also deserves to be approached with a certain wariness.

“ If, as a news consumer, I check a hyperlocal, citizen-run news site in my community, I am encountering it in the clear context of what it is (personal and likely specific to my geographic interests) and isn’t (a media site subject to stringent verification standards and editorial processes).”

“ One of the biggest challenges we all face, in an era where everyone has a platform, is figuring out whom to listen to,” HuffPost editor in chief Lydia Polgreen wrote in a blog post announcing the decision. “Open platforms that once seemed radically democratizing now threaten, with the tsunami of false information we all face daily, to undermine democracy.””
Process
1. Discover: User Interviews, Data Analysis
2. Define: Personas, Red Routes (User Journey), Task Flows
3. Prototype: Ideation, Solutions, Wireframes
4. Design: High Fidelity Designs, Interactive Prototypes
5. Deliver: User Testing, Design Reviews, Iterations
User Research
4 interviews were conducted as part of this research. Participants were asked questions about their behaviors regarding the news, what they usually look for and how and what discourages them from following certain news.
I created 3 personas following the interviews. Although they all want to stay aware with the latest news, they each have different behaviors and goals. But have all shared their fear of unreliable sources and fake news.
User Stories
Based on all the input from the interviews and the personas, I was able to develop users' stories - Here are a few important ones.
User Journey
Based on the User Stories, I elaborate different goals and the tasks that Users need to do in order to achieve them. Here are some of different journeys a User might go through.
First Sketches
I started to sketch some of the different features that could be displayed for the Users.
