Iman Raad Poster Design

I created a poster based off of the style of Iman Raad– an Iranian designer and artist. I pulled inspiration from a multitude of his posters focusing especially on his approach to using type & calligraphy as image while staying loyal to Persian culture as inspiration. He seems to do a lot of hand created inking/drawing; however it is all in Arabic. I decided to pull Persian imagery (for example, my version of the Persian Devil which is also pictured in some of his work) and patterns, while tying in the quote from Iman himself that states the goal of his art is to create a "disturbance to reality," which is especially apparent in his installations. I incorporated gold leaf to draw more from Persian culture and visuals.

I also decided to animate the poster. After many different approaches at attempting to disturb reality with my animation, I settled on a glitch effect. I chose to do this because it reminded me of the chaotic, vibrant installations that he creates and it best represented the combination of moods that his work conveys.

The below are some examples of his work.
