We keep growing in terms of strength, power, prosperity, and intellectually. The rising sun is depicted as growth we experience in the different stages in our lives. I wanted to show that the way a rising sun slowly brightens our world, similarly through knowledge and experience we grow towards enlightenment. This quilt is inspired from the paintings of an Indian artist, named S. H. Raza. He used geometric shapes to represent French towns in his paintings. However, I used the geometric shapes to depict a sunrise. This is the first design that I have made for a quilt. I have used hand dyed fabrics (made by me), batiks and solid fabrics.
I would like to give credit to my mother - Kalindi Sandeep Hambir for teaching and guiding me to make this quilt.
Quilt design made on EQ8 software
This is the first pattern I have made.
The Monochromatic colors are used to depict the external factors of a person’s life and contrast colors depict that regardless of obstacles you rise and grow.
