Creating a Calligraphic Script

What
A calligraphic script that I created from scratch. I have left it unnamed at present.

How
I experimented with the 'x-height' of a regular humanistic script. I settled at a comfortable enough height that was both small and readable, to make a blocky, sharp script.

Why
An exercise in calligraphy, and an assignment combined. I had a great time working with the Pilot parallel calligraphy pen while doing this.

When
Created in December, 2019.
(above, below) I started off with seeing how small I could go with my brush strokes.
(above) I practised sentences to understand the coherence and spot anomalies.
(above) The angles used in the script. I have mostly used a 30 degree angle. with exceptions containing 45 degrees, to maintain legibility.
(above) Sampling the ascenders, descenders, and variant letters in one word.
(above) The difference between similar alphabets: and example.
(above, below) I drew parallels (no pun intended) between my script and a grunge-like rap album that I enjoy. I decided to use the script to create a vinyl cover for the album. The album name is "Joint Custody" by Arshaq Malik and 47k.
(above, below) Digitising and printing the cover.
