The Honorable Comité de Huelga is a space where the students of Universidad de San Carlos and the people of Guatemala come together to denounce the injustices that are experienced in the country, displaying them with satire since 1890 that the strike was born, turning this rebrand into the consolidation of hundreds of years of history, being a visual update through the graphic synthesis of iconic aspects that have relevance in the imaginary of the students, uniting their essence and satire
El Honorable Comité de Huelga es un espacio donde los estudiantes sancarlistas y el pueblo de Guatemala se unen para denunciar las injusticias que se viven en el país, exhibiéndolas con sátira desde 1890 que nació la huelga, convirtiendo este rebrand en la consolidación de cientos de años de historia, siendo una actualización visual a través de la síntesis gráfica de aspectos icónicos que tienen relevancia en el imaginario de los estudiantes, uniendo la esencia de estos y la sátira
The Concept
"Aquí está tu son Chabella"
The new visual identity takes “La Chabela” as its central axis as the clearest representation of the sancarlista strike identity, but this time under a more functional, minimalist aesthetic and to some degree institutional. Emphasizing the generational change and leadership in the committee and in the society itself.
“La Chabela seems the ideal symbol for a country where there is so much violence ... it is the first symbol of feminism of the students. It is authentic Guatemalan, with very feminine features and its name, represents death, which has followed us for 500 years ” - Deaf Barnoya
La nueva identidad visual toma por icono y eje central a “La Chabela” como la representación más clara de la identidad huelgue sancarlista, pero esta vez bajo una estética más funcional, minimalista y hasta cierto punto institucional. Dandole énfasis al cambio generacional y de dirección en el comité y en la sociedad misma.
“La Chabela pareciera el símbolo ideal para un país donde hay tanta violencia... es el primer símbolo de feminismo de los estudiantes. Es guatemalteca auténtica, con rasgos muy femeninos y su nombre, representa a la muerte, misma que nos ha seguido a lo largo de 500 años” - El Sordo Barnoya
