A group of Dallas/Fort Worth-based writers and artists collaborated on an anthology of illustrated stories, proving that Texans are good at more than just football and BBQ. Though, we are really good at both of those things.
Although I was never a comic book geek, I had the pleasure of being lifelong friends of them and learning much about the genre. This geektastic upbringing paid off when I was asked to contribute my story, Elevator, to the Synesthetic anthology. The story was used to feed the imagination of the collaborators who then pared down the text to fit within the dialogue bubbles. When an editor slashes your story from several hundred words to a few sentences, you usually get upset. In this case, it was a pleasure.
If this were a comic dialogue bubble, it would simply say, "I wrote words!"
