Nedap at Lowlands is a sponsoring event by the Dutch technology company Nedap for the famous Dutch music festival Lowlands. The goal of the sponsor event is to bring people together using technology, an important part of Nedap's company culture.

By registering for a free RFID wristband, participants can check-in at 16 different points acress the festival area. In a dedicated control room, they can find back their friends and see which concert they are currently enjoying. In addition, the participants will receive a customised report of Lowlands featuring their festival statistics, a customised spotify playlist and their pictures taken by Nedap's photographers.

For this event, I designed several interfaces, Android and Spotify apps and the RFID festival bracelet. The project was in collaboration with several junior programming talents at Nedap as well as creative agency ...,Staat.

The Android app used by our photo teams. After a picture has been taken, the app can scan the participants' wristbands and upload them to Facebook. The app uses pictures taken by a DSLR camera which are transfered wireless to the Nexus 7 tablet.
A customised festival report
At the end of the festival, each participant will receive a customised spotify playlist.
A sample page to display information about each concert
Impressions of the festival
A crew member showing how to use the RFID wrist band at a check-in location
The check-in locations serving as a not-so-comfortable seat
A festival overview, showing a massive crowd around our stand and the festival stage on the left
A close up of the signs above our seats. The signs would light up as soon as somebody sat down and disrupted the infrared sensor beams
At night we would have a karaoke party going down, with festival guests performing their favourite tracks
A lot of enthousiasm from the guests made working on this project very rewarding
