Matcha tea is part of a centuries-old Japanese ritual for centering oneself in chaotic times. More recently, people have been using it as an energy alternative because it has a mix of caffeine and L-theanine that together give you a more calm, focused energy. Couple that with a move to “clean” everything and suddenly there was a challenger to all the synthetic/jittery options on the market. We worked with the founding brothers Graham and Max to develop packaging that would cue “energy drink” but not be trapped by it; we developed a visual identity system that allowed us to be both sophisticated and playful. We call it the “POV bottle” and we used it to have some good, clean fun with hustle culture today. And maybe modernize a ritual of yesterday for today.
