This work was done in the archiving class I took last semester. Under the name "Overlapped Places", students had to choose a memorable place or just a meaningful place, research, and develop a fictional storyline based on the research they did.

We weren't limited to any kind of result, but I decided to make a children's story book-like book to narrate the "history" of the two shopping centers near my house I researched.

The place I chose to research were actually two places: a shopping center called "Elephant Plaza" & "Dolphin Plaza". In which I tracked down the origin of their names through research and interviews of the real estate inside those two plazas (no one actually knew why they were named after animals), concluding that they were named so because people wanted to be successful (the city I live in was one of the 5 first satellite cities in Korea to be built by the government in the 80's). So starting business in a satellite city people worshipped those animals in hopes to be successful. And turns out (this is actually true) both elephants and dolphins are animals used for labor: elephants were used in wars in the past, and dolphins to detect landmines.

A (partially) true story narrated in my perspective.
