TERMINAL 2 MEETS FORMULA 1
At first glance the world's most famous motor race and 'the world's favourite airport' appear to have little in common - yet on closer inspection, the construction of Heathrow's latest terminal revealed some extraordinary parallels.

To the west of London, Europe's greenest airport terminal is taking shape. Designed to meet the air travel challenges of the coming century while building better journeys for 20 million customers a year, it's the result of a £2bn capital investment by BAA. Welcome to Heathrow's new and nearly completed Terminal 2.

As a construction project T2 is as massive as it is complex, so when your regular working days have seen this extraordinary environment take shape around you it can be easy to lose perspective. And on a site where so many different specialist contracting teams focus daily on achieving their own key tasks, it can be hard for a dedicated workforce to appreciate the bigger picture - even when completion is in sight.

To launch this final, crucial phase of construction, the T2 Quality & Safety Expo was conceived, inspiring workers with a well-deserved sense of pride in their collective achievement, while focusing on the the superlative standards that have driven the T2 project thus far - and  re-energising the workforce for the last big push to complete a landmark project.

The exhibition was carefully devised to deliver the core message that such an extraordinary building project elicits extraordinary efforts from everyone involved and that, just as in F1, success derives from a passionate commitment to quality and safety, and the co-ordinated dedication of every team member.
