The idea behind the lamp is that is gives someone incentive to study. The main idea that drove my process was contrast. At the core of the idea is the contrast between life and death, light and dark, pass and fail. I tried to carry this through the design with metal and wood, the line and the curve, rounded vs. straight edges and matt and gloss.
