THE STORY
On Nov 2019, I made a trip to New York to watch one of the art I did for Coca Cola on the big Times Square board. It was a big moment for me and a career milestone as Times Square has always been a mecca of advertising and it's a common belief that if your work ends up there, you've officially made it. More about that here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/88723659/Coca-Cola-x-Football

On that trip I took couple of pictures of myself in different places, one of them being in front of the huge American Flag LED board. The moment I saw that I knew I wanted a picture in front of that. Being an immigrant, America has given me a lot of big opportunities and really taken my talent to new heights and given me recognition beyond my expectations and for that I am forever grateful and I wanted to show how this country has had a huge influence on me. So me coming across that board as I was heading out was probably destiny. This was supposed to happen and I made it happen.
THE MAKING
My inspiration for this image is artists I admire like Flore Maquin, Boris Pelcer and Casey Weldon. They sort of have a similar style and I always wanted to make something along those lines. I know they actually do the illustrations from scratch but this is what I wanted to do and someday eventually I will do things from scratch as well.

Making these images takes a lot of time and effort so I thought everyone should get to see the process behind it. Here's a gif that takes you through the layers that went into creating this. Enjoy.
