Actualise Utopia

Actualise Utopia is a book-anthology, made on commission from the Norwegian Arts Council. The theme of the anthology is ethnical barriers i the Nordic arts and culture scene. In addition to 11 commissioned texts and articles, the book contains illustrations, reflections and a dictionary – reflecting the books theme.

An experimental cover and visual breaks creates breathing space in a text heavy publication. The book is systematically structured to give identity to every submission, but still ensures a holistic appearance. Visually the book balances between informative and expressive, to build up under the idea of an informed rebel. We need to be awakened to realise that institutionalised racism is a problem – the book is designed to represent a sense of controlled activism. Re-shaping a 3-year long project, Actualise Utopia is the result – an interesting and available physical product, with an important message.
