The inspiration of my work usually comes from nature and my inner self. From work 1 to work 7 can be seen as a series of continuous thinking and exploring, although they are created in different ways.

I used my own face as reference in the first and second work, I wanted to explore the relationship between me and “the outside’’. There’s a clear boundary and tension between me and my surroundings.

The third and fourth work were my experiment of combining human body and nature, I continued this experiment in my fifth work “footprint”, it was originally a photo taken by satellite. The boundary that differentiates the person and nature is blurred.

The following three oil paintings were done during the past winter break, I wanted to portray the warmth of nature through color and choice of brush touch, I picked the color scheme that was the most appealing to me. There is no boundary nor a clear human shape in the paintings, but I’ve put myself in the scene through depicting the part of nature that strengthens me.

My last art work was a sculpture made of mainly foam cups and tapes, it was about the absence of home. Daily items such as bottle cap, a piece of garlic, part of a plastic fork and knife were wrapped in bubble wrap, placed in each cup(or can be seen as each unit/room in the world).
