in-line

Fine Arts

Nohlab’s audiovisual installation in-line was inspired by the natural phenomenon of horizon, and used a total of 21 LED panels, reflective surfaces on two ends, hazer and a quadraphonic sound system to turn the limited area into a limitless space and present an everchanging time-space experience.

Premiered at Nohlab's solo exhibition in IKUSAG in 2018, in-line has a unique canvas format enhancing the experience of the audience. The installation takes its form not only from the content, but also from the space it is exhibited in. Its audio and video elements are especially designed for a holistic perception of sound and visuals, letting the audience live a synesthetic experience. This way, the audience steps into a different reality than the one they are already in.

The LED panels of in-line are used as light sources rather than displays. This makes light the main element of the installation, turning it into a form of light suspended in air. Pointy light sources in linear flow come together in variable timings and complex forms. These forms derive various possibilities in synergy, letting various patterns come to life. The final structure manifested as a result of this process harbors both the order and the disorder, letting these two concepts call each other into being.
