Extending Upon the Dorset Street Flats

The previous essay for this project explored the influence of the architectural style Brutalism in the creation of the town house and its role in transforming New Zealander’s understanding of the urban home. Through this critical exploration, the unique and highly rational tectonic vocabulary of Sir Miles Warren's Dorset Street Flats (1956-57) were discovered.

In the form of a 'meta-design project', this visual essay explored the questions: how can warren's tectonic vocabulary, be extended and built upon in order to drive a unique design project? & What effect will this have on the well established spatial relationships between each domestic unit and how will this influence the way in which its residents live?
