Bearclaw Granola - Branding
Bearclaw Granola is a manufacturer of healthy organic granola and cereal products in Colorado and has started to experience some real growth and found themselves in need of a more memorable brand identity. Their previous logo was simply a bear's paw in black and white with the text in Myriad... ugh.

Firstly, as this is a cereal food product, there was a need to reinforce in the consumers mind that it is wholesome and in a memorable way. So I presented the following three concepts with the following rationals.

The first one is the bear paw with claws in full silhouette on a badge of a field of grains. A very safe commercial label option. The second one was a mash-up of two very old scans I had in my library, one of a bear holding a trout and another of a cereal bowl in a breakfast scene. Combining the two results in the smiling bear about to dig into the bowl of granola, a very strong brand endorsement.

The third option is very cute and child friendly, a quick illustrator sketch of a cartoon bear with his claws showing, but his body is so small he's hardly threatening. The client preferred the second one with a colourised version created. Package design begins next week, so stay tuned for the update!
