Above is the final version.
The Client
My client was a widely recognized cocktail bartender in The Hague, The Netherlands. He has roots in Curaçao, a Dutch Caribbean island which highly impacted the design process.
Challenges
I did not want to make the design too general so as I was researching his cocktails I discovered that based on a quantitative method, his 'favourite' ingredient is lime. This became the main influence of the design.
As a freelancer, I also had to face the issue of the time limit for getting to know my client extensively enough. However, after a couple of meetings I managed to establish a solid base-line which was followed by an extensive research on his origin, goals and his type of work which was then enough for me to establish quite a precise profile.
The Objective
The client wanted a brand logo that referred to his origins and his identity as a whole while also incorporating some sort of a cocktail ingredient.
The Solution
As I mentioned above, I came across the lime as his mostly used ingredient which then I used as the main motive in the logo. This, combined with the fingerprint silhouette gave a strong logo design which stands out and that is unique to compete in the hospitality business.
Why was the colour palette chosen?
The colours were subtracted from different parts of a lime in order to fully represent its rich qualities.
Why were the fonts chosen?
The elegance of the Acumin Variable Concept and the strength of the Bebas Neue were a great match for a design in which both factors are important. The elegance represents tha values and quality of the offered products and service in such a competitive market as hospitality, while strength raises the logo out of a generality and monotony.
The moodboard represents all the ideas that were mentioned during the first couple of meetings in order to enhance the cooperation between me and my client.
