Coleção Meu Ambiente | Boticário

Boticário Group Foundation for Nature Protection is a non-profit organization created in 1990 by O Boticário’s founder, Miguel Krigsner.

The Coleção Meu Ambiente is a collection of educational books created for teachers and students between the ages of six (1st grade) and fifteen (9th grade) across Brazil. It contains a selected content related to the conservation and preservation of the environment, highlighting the importance of human being's connection with nature. Its goal is to contribute to the development of a generation capable of understanding the relevance of nature conservation as well as the direct relation between preserved natural environments and social well-being. This book collection was first distributed in 2017 to students and teachers from the 1st to 6th grade. Each grade has one book for the teaching staff and one activity book for the students.

LaFabbrica was invited to develop the visual identities and graphic projects of the 7th, 8th and 9th grade books. Besides adapting and creating the grown up version of Turma do Miguel characters, LaFabbrica was also responsible for designing a new visual identity for each book, creating layouts, illustrations and infographics.

The 7th grade book’s main subjects are climate change and global warming. Since they are very objective contents and there are a lot of terms and concepts to be learned, geometrical shapes were applied to organize information and help with the text’s fluidity. Complementary colors were used to make the material attractive to its audience and also to relate to the subject of change and weather.
The 8th grade book’s main goal is to bring the students closer to the concept of nature conservation. It is full of complex concepts regarding natural environments and social well-being, so soft watercolors and delicate brushes were used to work on the awareness and sensitization of the audience. While the 7th grade books have a lot of infographics and illustrations to easy the understanding of the content, the 8th grade books are full of photographs, so the students can connect with all the other living beings that compose our nature and environment.
Boticário Group Foundation wanted the 9th grade book to be an almanac assembling all the information brought to the students and teachers in the previous books. Since it is a compilation, collages of photographs, typography and colors were applied throughout the materials. Besides being an assortment of concepts and contents, these books are also the closure of the Meu Ambiente collection. Therefore, gradients were applied, creating a modern and futuristic tone to bring the students and teachers to the following reflection: where do we go now? And how can we truly coexist with the natural environments in a healthy way?
