IB HOTEL SOMALIA

IB HOTEL SOMALIA
IB Hotel and Shopping Center is one of the oldest sites in Berbera city, Somalia. Inspired by the traditional architecture this scheme aims to reinvent the market place, giving the city a new civic heart. By offering an alternative to the globalized one-size-fits-all shopping center it offers a distinctive modern interpretation of the regional vernacular. As a shopping experience it combines luxury goods boutiques with food markets and craft- based trades. Like the traditional souk, these different experiences are brought together in an interior architecture of dappled sunlight, bright colors and greenery, with a changing rhythm of squares, courtyards and alley ways.
The SHOPPING CENTER MAIN APPROACH IS NOTABLE WITH ITS WELCOMING WOODEN ENTRANCE WITH A DOUBLE HEIGHT SPACE TO START THE UNIQUE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. THE APPROACH IS ALSO EMPHASIZED WITH TWO REJECTED MASSES DIFFERENT IN THE SCALE TO BE MORE DYNAMIC. THE MAIN PUBLIC PLAZA AT THE ENTRANCE IS USED AS A FOCAL POINT TO THE PROJECT WHERE MAIN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES CAN HAVE PLACE EASILY DUE TO ITS FLEXIBILITY.
The IB Hotel is an urban resort which balances a quietly brutal aesthetic with humor and charm. The 50-room hotel WILL BE ONE OF the most significant of the built works produced IN BERBERA, SOMALIA, an open-air street based development NEAR TO THE CBD. THE HOTEL WILL establish a new local streets-cape identity as the setting for a curated open-air retail and hospitality precinct.

IB HOTEL provides more than just AN ACCOMMODATION, it offers hotel services for visitors. With DISTINGUISH VIEW TO THE SEA AND BERBERA MOUNTAINS, THE hotel can establish Itself without disrupting the daily activities of BERBERA’s CITY residents.
