Barnas Vikingdager (The Children's Viking Festival) is a biennial event taking place at Egge Museum, Steinkjer. It's a continuation of Vikingfestivalen på Egge (The Egge Viking Festival). The festival's main objective is to convey knowledge about the historical period around year 1000 with a focus on the ancient monuments at Egge, in a manner that takes children and adolescents seriously by using communication methods children understand. Events include a historical viking market, battle scenes, jugglers, music and much more.

Working together with Snopp Designbyrå, I provided a set of illustrations to be used as part of the festival's branding and marketing. The illustrations include the Egge sword – a monument modelled after the viking sword found at Egge in 1981, and two kids based on the historical characters Olve of Egge and Sigrid – the powerful local chieftain and his wife.

Early sketches – finding the appropriate style and trying out some colours.

Final sketches – more movement and bolder linework. During this part of the process we also settled on rougher colouring.
