Eddie Vedder Concert Poster

18x24" Illustration made for Eddie Vedder's show at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona for his european tour with Glen Hansard.

Here's the story behind the illustration
In a far future, humans have created robots to fight against Kaijus (monsters like Godzilla). When all the creatures have been defeated, these robots have been changed to amusement park structures.
A few decades later, the park has been closed and nature has taken back its rights.
Plants have grown up and some of them appeared to be magical, giving life to these inanimate structures and that's what looks like the Kaiju Park today.

Yokoso !
I always make my sketches on paper. I feel more confortable and free with a real pencil in my hand. So as you can see, at first, I still had this idea of the two robots and the big wheel but there wasn't any plant at that time. It's only during the line art (inking) that the small story came to my mind.

The robots are a reference to the works of Tatsuyuki Tanaka and the way of merging elements together was inspired by Ugo Gattoni's works.

I really wanted to make an illustration where japanese pop culture references could match with a more oranemented-like composition a create something pop but still elegant.
Colors have been limited to 5 as the objective was to make screenprints.
Gray blue, orange, dark green, brownish grey joined the black line art on a ivory white background (which counts as paper).
