COLOUR, SHAPE, EMOTION
This photo series combines three different elements: colour, shadows and the human body. I wanted to explore how projecting a shadow of a certain shape onto a specific body part under a coloured light source can come together to create a specific mood and evoke particular emotions.
The images shot under red light have a shadow of a triangle. I projected the shadow of the triangle onto the model’s back and chest area to create a more sensual image. The images shot under the purplish pink light have a shadow of a star in them, projected on the model’s hand and collarbone area. I wanted to bring out the aspect of magic and mysticism that can be associated with this shade of colour. With the colour green, I wanted to show the concept of balance and symmetry and so I used the square shape for these photographs. I chose to focus on the legs and feet for these photographs to compare two sides and try and create a feeling of balance.
