The study of the past in public education has a very significant political role: it is there where the "cultural battle" has been fought, and will continue to do so, whether admitted or not. Because history is a synonym of conflict. In words of Federico Lorenz, "We do not investigate it to inherit a legacy, but to make better interpretations of our present and to imagine where we want to go".
