Rishikesh is one of the most holly places and picturesque tourist attractions in India. This tehsil is located in Dehradun district of Indian state Uttarakhand. Rishikesh has been a part of the legendary Kedarkhand since ancient era. Acording to the legends, Lord Rama did expiation in this place to defete Ravana, the ruthless empiror of Lanka. Lakshmana, his younger brother, crossed the river Ganges. Present day there is an iron-rope suspension bridge known as Laxman Jhula. Similarly Lord Rama crossed the river, and the present day iron-rope suspension bridge over there, is known as Ram Jhula.
