Midnight's Children Poster
This typography project for school was mostly self directed. I wanted to display one of my favorite quotes from my favorite book in an interesting and eye-catching way. I have always loved the handmade printing and packed type of the old broadside style posters and wanted to utilize this style to put emphasis on the words, and not let any illustration distract from it. I wanted the poster to feel worn and weathered like Saleem, the character who utters the quote.
Though the project began as a digital piece, I was actually able to screen-print the poster in a Printmaking class. I wanted from the outset for the digital version to look like an old, weathered screen-printed poster, so to see it realized in the proper medium was quite rewarding.
