FRINGE Project
Urban Design

Any change or modernisation in the city leads to build, transform, reshape the public spaces. The transition degrates temporararily the life quality of the city inhabitants.

Urban Work.
The urban works leads to the division of the city spaces : pedestrian, circulatory and work. They are generally empty and chaotic spaces generating the need to cross it quickly rising the stress level of any user.

In many cases the city works are unfriendly spaces with noise, dust and a strong visual contamination. The works are bothering the users that generally can’t understand the current situation.

The places suffer from a lack of visual identity creating confusion and a potential accident rising of the users. The evolution of the work generates a fast change of the space morphology making it even more complicated.
Fringe project proposes a revalorization of the urban limits taking advantage of this space to integrate the works in a context of ephemeral and reusable urbanism.

Fringe is based on the dismountable principle of scaffolding to create a series of interchangeable modules adopted for an ephemeral design.
Fringe is sustainable for its durable, reusable and economic side, for its social improvement considering all the citizens who are both users and workers, and finally for its ecological participation to the reduction of the urban pollution.
This modular system proposes the integration of resting areas, the creation of shadows in a warm and sunny environment, the reduction of noise or visual pollution, an improvement of the waste management around the works and finally the integration of vegetation.

Fringe democratizes the space by its connection and integration. It is available for any type of user crossing the space.
