SOIA: Strand Oog in Al

SOIA (Strand Oog in Al), known as 'the nicest beachbar of utrecht' and because of it's unique location between the water, a loved placed in the city by a great diversity of people. A young, hip and quirky place with a raw edge. This is translated into a raw and quirky illustration style with illustrations of Michelle Mildenberg. We took inspiration out of punk culture and screenprinting to emphasize the raw character of SOIA. The illustrations have a dreamy and surrealistic twist that makes you think, or let's you dream away next to the water!

The logo, a binoculars, refers to the history of the neighbourhood "Oog in Al" (translated: Eye in All) in Utrecht. In 1666, sir Everard Mester (also called "Crazy Joncker") bought the area to oversee the expansion plans of Utrecht. He named it Oog in Al because he could keep 'een oogje in het zeil' (translation: keep an eye on the sail) from there. The colors are inspired on the interior of SOIA.

DIY font
There was chosen for "Nexa Rust Sans", a bold and rusty font. Besides that we created an unique "DIY" (do-it-yourself) font, that gives the whole a more playful and raw character. And also works well in social media applications.
