The Poetry of Emily Dickinson

"The Poetry of Emily Dickinson" is a thematic prompt for the Inktober 2018 Challenge, composed of 31 illustrations, each is a visual interpretation of a poem by Emily Dickinson.

Emily Dickinson as an individual really shaped my way of being. I don't think there are many other authors whose talent went unrecognised while living, and whose views on life and its various complexities was as curious, and a bit against the norm, as it was unique and wholesome to their own. She was someone whose craft and inner world inspired me in ways unimaginable and made me feel less insecure with myself, the world, and my place in it.

All illustrations are hand-drawn with traditional pen and black ink.

· Please enjoy ·
If I can stop one heart from breaking · The heart asks pleasure first · I'm nobody! Who are you?
Hope is the thing with feathers · For each ecstatic instant · My cocoon tightens, colors tease
I went to thank her · I reason, Earth is short · We outgrow love like other things
Because I could not stop for Death · If I should die · The dying need but little, dear
Each that we lose takes part of us · While I was fearing it, it came · We grow accustomed to the Dark
The Soul has Bandaged moments · I heard a fly buzz when I died · My life closed twice before its close
I had no time to hate, because · Before I got my eye put out · When I hoped I feared
A word is dead · I've seen a dying eye · She went as quiet as the dew
Of so divine a loss · We never know we go, --when we are going · There's a certain Slant of Light
It was not Death, for I stood up · I like a look of agony · Death is like the insect
This is my letter to the world
