Homesickness plays a key part in all walks of life, if not directly, we all have family, friends or relatives who have
left the country. Be it for a short period of time or for good it is always a difficult period for those moving away. The overall aim of The Global Local is to make the  process of being away from home that bit easier. Consisting of both a newspaper and an application The Global Local is a small piece of Ireland one can always have with them no matter where they are, providing readers with a refreshing, lighthearted and informative view of life back in Ireland.

The application part of the project allows users a way of connecting the digital and physical worlds, enabling users to read articles and connect with other users through opinion sections etc. A key part of the app experience enables those who are homesick access to local services to assist with dealing with and overcoming the issue.
