Seesaw — homeschool or public school?

Seesaw
A tool to measure what schooling is best for your child.
Open books open minds. We believe every child deserves the best possible future. Our mission is to help parents and kids work together to decide which education system is best for their child’s individual needs. This book is meant to open the conversation between parents and children in order to gain a new understanding about the different education systems by working together.

Instructions
1. Kids read the pull-out tabs
2. Parents read the bottom triangular flaps
3. Kids decide if they prefer homeschool or public school
4. Kids choose a token depending on which education system they enjoy
5. After reading, place book upright so it sits on the triangular flaps
6. Kids can interact with the scenes using the characters
Overview
This book is a guided experience for both the parent and child can interact with together. As you move through the book, there are examples of what a homeschool student does in a day and what a public school student does in a day. Each spread consists of a scene from being homeschooled (on the left) and a scene from being in public school (on the right). On each spread, the kids read the story on the pull-out tab and the parents read the triangle flap on the bottom of each page. Once your child has seen and read both sides, have them choose either a homeschool token or a public school token depending on which side they like the best. They can keep these tokens in a pile until the end of the book. Repeat this process for each spread. At the end of this book exercise, your child will have two piles of tokens depending on which experience they enjoyed more. By comparing how many public school tokens and how many homeschool tokens they have collected at the end, you can determine which path of education your child seems more comfortable with.
Caregiver Information
On the triangle flaps when you first open the book, there are brief informational paragraphs on various facts and statistics about homeschooling and public schooling. These areas provide the caregivers of the students to be more educated on the topic while their child is engaging with the story and illustrations.
Child Interaction
By placing the book in an upright standing position, it turns into a playset area for your child to engage with even further. The characters can aid as a role playing tool so they can express how they feel about each situation. This will also help get their mind thinking of the differences between homeschool and public school while they play with the various scenes. Have fun!
