This particular project is for an event that the leadership academy is hosting along with all of the other arts academies, and is a depiction of the angel Gabriel visiting the shepherds in Bethlehem on the night of Jesus' birth. I wanted something that was more of a skyskape than typical representations had, and also wanted to keep the scale small and avoid drawing faces, so this arrangement is what I began with.

I wanted to highlight the glow of the angel reflected off of the rocky cliff face and show the contrast with the dark areas.

This picture isn't meant to highlight the moon, but I wanted to diversify the color composition of the sky and fill the space better.

The angel is walking in on the clouds and is illuminating the awestruck shepherds.
